IACAP The internationally-recognised
society serving the interests and activities of the large and lively
community working on computational and informational issues in the
knowledge society. IACAP began as the organizing committee for the
annual Computing and Philosophy (CAP) in 1988. These were organized
for over a decade by Robert Cavalier and Preston Covey at Carnegie
Mellon University (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania). CAP has expanded to
become IACAP, with affiliated Regional Directors and annual conferences
in Europe (ECAP) and the Asian-Pacific Region (AP-CAP). The conferences,
and the publications that issue from them (ranging from special
issues of premier journals to anthologies issued by leading publishers)
constitute the mainstream of interdisciplinary research, teaching
and scholarly applications in the multiple areas of philosophy and
computing, information and IT.
